Fort Worth, Texas, is not just where Head Coach Courtney Winston hails from; it’s the foundation of her remarkable journey in sports and education. With over 14 years of coaching experience, Coach Winston has dedicated her life to nurturing young athletes and fostering a love for the game.

A proud graduate of Oscar Dean Wyatt High School in 2005, Coach Winston was a standout athlete, earning all-district and state honors in basketball, volleyball, and track and field. Her passion for basketball led her to Southwestern Christian College, where she made her mark as a member of the Lady Rams Basketball Program. During her time there, she ranked #18 in the nation for scoring, averaging an impressive 20 points per game while shooting 50% from the field. Her contributions on the court were matched by her academic excellence, as she achieved Dean’s List honors with a stellar 3.8 GPA.

Continuing her collegiate career at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Coach Winston was recognized as an All-Conference and All-Tournament team honoree in the Red River Conference. She consistently demonstrated her prowess on the court, leading the Lady Warriors with averages of 14.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4 steals per game, while also earning multiple Player of the Week accolades.

Coach Winston’s journey took her to Texas A&M International University in Laredo, where she excelled as an NCAA Division II All-American and Academic All-American. Graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Sociology, she was a first-team all-conference selection and continued to receive recognition for her outstanding performance.

In 2012, Coach Winston returned to her roots at Oscar Dean Wyatt High School, where she began her 11-year career in education and coaching. Her leadership helped the Lady Chaparral basketball team achieve multiple playoff appearances. After seven successful years at Wyatt, she transitioned to North Crowley High School, where her coaching acumen led the team to two District Championships, two Bi-District Championships, two Regional Championships, and two Regional Semifinal appearances. As the recruitment coordinator, she played a pivotal role in helping players gain recognition at all levels of collegiate basketball, from NJCAA to NCAA Division I, II, and III.

Following her tenure at North Crowley, Coach Winston took on the role of Head Girls Basketball Coach at Juan Seguin High School in Arlington, Texas. There, she continued to empower her players, helping them secure scholarships and achieve district recognition for their athletic and academic accomplishments.

Beyond her professional achievements, Coach Winston is a devoted wife to Courtney D. Winston and a proud mother to Kendal Robinson, who is following in her mother’s footsteps as a collegiate athlete at the University of Texas Arlington, where she is a member of the women’s basketball program. One of Coach Winston’s proudest accomplishments is coaching her daughter in grassroots basketball as the President of Texas Savage Sports and at North Crowley High School.

With a wealth of knowledge and expertise, Coach Winston is excited to return to Southwestern Christian College, where she aims to cultivate a championship environment for the SWCC Lady Rams program. Her passion for coaching and commitment to her athletes are sure to inspire the next generation of players, as she continues to build a legacy of excellence in Fort Worth and beyond.
